Our guiding principle, as ever! Prepare your skin for UV rays, protect it while still allowing yourself to tan, and repair it to prolong your tan…
It's the Sunburn Protection Factor!
The equivalent of the PI (protection index) or the SPF (sun protection factor).
Thanks to this indicator, we know the level of protection the product provides: the higher it is, the more it blocks UVB rays and therefore sunburn!
You therefore need to choose the protection factor that suits your skin phototype, according to the amount of sunshine and the conditions of sun exposure.
What do the protection factors mean?
- From 6 to 25: low protection factor,
- From 30 to 50: high protection factor
- 50 and above: very high (brands are no longer allowed to claim factors above 50 or terms such as ‘total sunblock’)
How should you use them?
All textures are equivalent, so choose the one you most enjoy applying and reapply every 2 to 3 hours, and after every swim. Apply evenly and generously to your face, without forgetting your neck.
And in the evening?
Moisturise the sensitive skin of your face, weakened by swimming in the sea and in pools, by sand, sun and wind… Choose suitable products such as after-sun creams rather than your usual care. Not only will they moisturise, they will soothe your skin and ease that tight feeling: for a longer-lasting, more radiant tan!
Our golden rules:
- even if we use sun protection, too much exposure for too long, especially at the hours when the sun is at its zenith and UV is strongest (12:00–14:00), can lead to the appearance of pigmentation spots and premature skin ageing (wrinkles and fine lines, sagging skin…)
- treat yourself to new sun creams every year (products lose effectiveness from one year to the next: the sun filters they contain are particularly fragile)
- the most sensitive areas must be the best protected: eye contour, décolleté, ears, nape of the neck… be careful: a few clouds in the sky lower the temperature but do not block UV radiation at all!
- we take our sunglasses, a parasol and a hat with us!
- we drink plenty of water, regularly to hydrate from the inside
